Doubtless fleeing accusations of sorcery, Wecker moved to Basel after having published Les Secrets de Wecker. For a number of years, he worked as a professor of logic at the local university.

One of the best known books of secrets ever printed, De Secretis shows a large typographic production, the first edition dates back to 1582 and largely reprinted in the following centuries.
The Swiss physician Wecker summarizes here a long list of topics, such as alchemy, demonology, magic, spiritism, astrology, pharmacology among others, building a sort of "encyclopedia of secrets and knowledge".
