News Articles from 1830's regarding the death of Sir Walter Scott, Princess Charlotte, Masonic Brothers, Poetry, various other topics of the time.
Including:
Death of Sir Walter Scott (a Freemason) having suffered a stroke in 1831, which resulted in apoplectic paralysis, his health continued to fail and Scott died on 21st September 1832
Death of Princess Charlotte, on 6 November 1817, having endured over 40 hours of labour, Princess Charlotte gave birth to a stillborn son, and several hours later she too passed away.
Wreck of HMS THETIS; Built in 1817, Pembroke Dock. On 4th December 1830 HMS THETIS (Capt. Samuel BURGESS) left Rio de Janeiro to England with bullion, including 800.000 dollars, which had been collected from merchants at Callao and other Pacific ports over the previous months. Shorthly after, at Cape Frio, she struck a rock with force. In the event, all three masts came down. When an attempt was made to free her from the rock, she struck another rock that holed her hull and started drifting. She finally came to rest near a cove. In all twenty-eight lost their lives.
